It’s Not Over Until God Says Its Over

APRIL, 2008
I want you to pray this prayer this month: Father, in the Name of Jesus, “Lord, I believe that You love me. John 3:16 says that You do. And because You love me, I know that You’ll never abandon me and this situation that I’m facing will turn out for my good. Thank you for not only causing men to remember me but to bless me and those You have entrusted in my hands in Jesus Name – Amen.

MESSAGE
This month, I want to talk to you about God’s plan for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says. . . “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (KJV)

Life as you know it now can change, and not always for the better. Let’s take a look at a young man whose life dramatically changed for the worse. His name was Mephibosheth and he was the son of Jonathan, grandson of King Saul. You can read his story in (II Samuel 4:4, and II Samuel 9:1-13). When he was five years old his father and grandfather died in war. The child's nurse hearing of this calamity, fled with the boy from the royal residence, and stumbled in her haste, dropping the child on the ground, permanently paralyzing him from the waist down.

See, sometimes in life the very person who is supposed to protect us ends up hurting us. Having lost all living relatives, this young man has gone from being an heir to a throne, to being paralyzed and homeless having to depend on others to care for him.

David was now king, and after many years, David began to think about the covenant he and Jonathan had. It was because of that covenant that David began to ask if anyone knew if Jonathan had any living relatives. When he learned that Jonathan’s son was living elsewhere, he sent for him. When Mephibosheth arrived at the palace he bowed down to David. David shared with him that he would return all of the land that belonged to him from his grandfather King Saul. He also told Mephibosheth that he would always eat at his table at the palace. Mephibosheth could not believe King David’s kindness.

You must remember that in those days, when a new king came into power, most of the time he would kill all the family of the former king to insure that none of the family would try to take over the throne. He also could not believe how nice David was to him because he was crippled. David who was a man didn’t forget about Jonathan’s son, why would God forget about His sons and daughters.

In closing, I’m sure there were times when Mephibosheth thought God had forgotten him. As you can see, God didn’t. Perhaps you’re in your dorm room reading this, maybe you’re a married woman whose husband has abandoned you emotionally. You could be a single dad raising your children. No matter what situation you face, God has not, nor will He ever forget you. Just lift your hands wherever you are and repeat the prayer above See yourself talking to God. Continue to thank God that your situation is being turned around. Meditate on Proverbs 3:5-6 which says “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV) Hang in there, victory is on its way.

The Weakest Link
Part I
May 2008

My Prayer For You This Month:  Father, I thank You for revealing weak links in the lives of those reading this message.  Help them uncover areas that they need to tighten in their lives so that losses will be minimized.  As You reveal areas to the people, I pray that they will be quick to address these weak links and stop the enemy in his tracks in Jesus Name – Amen.

Have you ever lost a valuable piece of jewelry because a link broke or your fastener/clasp came undone?  Well just like losing something valuable because one small piece didn’t work, you can lose something valuable spiritually, mentally or emotionally because your have a spiritual fastener that is not working.

So stop and think for a moment.  What weak links do you have in your life that need to be tightened.  You can’t afford to leave them as is because it could cause you to lose something valuable?  Let me help you, here is a small list of weak links, see if something rings a bell; unbelief, lack of patience, a lust for the opposite sex, a lust of money, gluttony, itching ears or a mouth that won’t stop running.

While you’re thinking, let’s look at someone in the Bible who had a weak link and see what happened.  Abraham and Sarah both had a weak link called “unbelief.”  Because they didn’t address the weak link in a timely manner, they ended up being out of the will of God and Abraham fathered a child by his wife’s handmaiden Hagar.  Unbelief and a lack of patience in the lives of Abraham and Sarah produced Ishmael.  Now it wouldn’t be so bad if this weak link only affected those two.  But that wasn’t the case; their weak link affected the child’s mother, the child and others as well.

Had they addressed their weak link, believed what God said and exercised patience, it would have saved a lot of people a lot of heartache.  Your bad decisions normally don’t just affect you.  Most of the time others lives are impacted as well.

Are you impatient?  You just got to buy that motorcycle.  How about that new dress?  Are you charging things you can’t afford because you’re not patient enough to wait until you have the money to pay cash?  Are you like Abraham and Sarah, your weak link is unbelief.  You don’t believe God will send you a mate, so you go find one on your own.  You can avoid Ishmaels in your life.  Exercise patience and belief in God.  Wait on your Isaac.  Read the conversation between Abraham and God in Genesis 15.  Then read Chapter 16 to see what happened when this couple didn’t wait on God.  Stay tuned because we’ll pick back up with these weak links in June.
